Richard Bean’s new play The Hypocrite is reviewed. It’s a pastiche 17th century comedy, set in 1642 at the start of the English Civil War, in the siege of Hull. It’s a riotous and boisterous comedy. It was commissioned for Hull’s year as City of Culture jointly between The Hull Truck Company and the Royal Shakespeare Company. At the RSc throughout April.
