I wasn’t sure how to classify the NT Live transmission of The Magistrate to 600 cinemas direct from the Olivier Theatre in London. It is under “stage” in the end. We saw it in Poole, and the linked review discusses the nature of “live transmission theatre” as well as the play.

Review of Les Misérables added today. This is a BIG film in every way.

HMV

It is linked here, and under the MUSIC section.

Review of one of the best plays of the 20th century, Quatermaine’s Terms, by Simon Gray, with Rowan Atkinson in the lead role at the preview run, Brighton Theatre Royal.

Rowan Atkinson

Not only is this a great play, it’s also a great EFL / ELT play, taking place in the staffroom of an EFL school in Cambridge in the early 1960s.

Gambit

Review of the 2012 remake of Gambit, featuring Colin Firth, Cameron Diaz and Alan Rickman added. A dream cast, great writers … but it doesn’t entirely convince.

It’s under the “Rants” section, as it’s not a review: The Curse of The Crawleys: Downton Abbey Series Ten
