The 1960s film retrospectives series continues with The Trap from 1966. Starring Oliver Reed and Rita Tushingham … and a canoe,  some snow and some wolves, a bear and a cougar basically.  Set in British Columbia, Reed is a fur trapper known as La Bete, and Tushingham is the mute wife he has purchased.

1917- review

Review of Sam Mendes’ 1917 (follow link). Golden Globes for best film and best director. I thought George MacKay deserved best actor, but wasn’t nominated. The awards are deserved. Don’t wait for DVD or Netflix – this needs to beseen on as big a screen as you can find.

More in the 1960s Films Revisited section. This time by request, The Chase (1966), (FOLLOW LINK TO REVIEW) directed by Arthur Penn just before Bonnie & Clyde. It starred Marlon Brando, Jane Fonda, Robert Redford, James Fox, Robert Duvall and Angie Dickinson. It has flaws and apparently the four main players … Penn, Brando, Sam Spiegel and writer Lilian Hellman did not get on.

Instant morning after reaction to the election results (FOLLOW LINK) written right off without stopping. I was up till 5 a.m. Rash? Harsh? Judgemental? All of the above.

The 70s were Crap. (LINKED( A new long rant added. This was a response to an internet discussion where the 70s were recalled as a political golden age. It wasn’t. This has political opinions. They may well offend. I hope they do not lose me friends. If you don’t like criticism of Momentum, please stop here.  It rambles all over the place too. So a RANT if ever one was ranted. Hopefully though there is also some humour.
