Review of All’s Well That Ends Well  by William Shakespeare, at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse. A candlelit production of a rarely produced play. It’s a play with modern resonances, and one I particularly like. So what about this production?

Review of the musical THE GREATEST SHOWMAN, with music from the La La Land team. Starring Hugh Jackman as P.T. Barnum. Great choreography, vibrant colour, memorable songs. You can’t go wrong.

The Awards Season brings all the best films in quick succession, so our second in two days is Joe Wright’s DARKEST HOUR starring Gary Oldman as Winston Churchill and Lily James as Elizabeth Layton, his young secretary. Britain has spent 2017 obsessed with World War II movies and it looks as if 2018 is a continuation.

Review of Martin McDonagh’s Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri is linked.  It’s hoovering up awards, and rightly so. A magically Irish tale, even when transferred to rural America. Frances McDormand, as Mildred Hayes, can only be the best actress of the last year.
