Levon Helm of The Band died this afternoon after a long battle with cancer. Levon’s voice was the soundtrack to so many of the most important moments of my life, The Weight, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, King Harvest, Daniel and The Sacred Harp all have very personal meaning to me, and so does his singing and playing to the lives of so many others. My thoughts to Sandy Helm, Amy Helm, Garth and Maud Hudson, Robbie Robertson and all his family and friends.
